Today marks a significant phase in the prisoner exchange as Ukraine successfully brought back severely injured defenders.
According to agreements made in Istanbul, the Ukrainian side has returned a group of soldiers who suffered serious injuries and have critical health issues.
The returned soldiers include members from various branches of the military, including the Navy and Ground Forces.
Among those freed are defenders of Mariupol, who spent over three years in captivity. Both enlisted personnel and officers were successfully released.
All released individuals are suffering from severe injuries, including amputations, vision problems, infections, and chronic illnesses. Some have been diagnosed with hepatitis and tuberculosis.
The returned defenders will be taken to medical centers for necessary examinations and further treatment. They will receive essential assistance and have their documents restored.
The large-scale prisoner exchange is ongoing, and the exact number of released individuals will be announced later for security reasons.
The Coordination Headquarters continues its work and plans to conduct the next phase of releasing Ukrainian captives soon.
We are working to bring everyone home!
Glory to Ukraine!
