In May, the sappers of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine managed to free 7847 hectares of land that had been liberated from Russian aggression from hazardous explosive devices, according to the Ministry of Defense report.
During May, 7660.21 hectares of agricultural land, 21.27 km of roads, 9.44 km of power lines, 40.24 km of railway tracks, and 5.94 km of pipelines were demined.
Additionally, 0.88 hectares of residential areas were cleared of dangerous items.
During this period, military sappers identified and neutralized 6818 explosive devices.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Ukrainian sappers have disposed of 445,680 hazardous items.
As of the end of May, there are 87 certified operators conducting demining activities in Ukraine, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
Demining operations in liberated territories involve teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive ordnance disposal units of the National Police, and the State Emergency Service.
According to the Law of Ukraine on "Demining Activities", humanitarian demining is exclusively carried out by certified operators.
