In Bilozerske, Donetsk region, rescuers discovered a cat that had been trapped under debris for two days.

The animal was so frightened that it scratched one of the firefighters, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Rescue operations had been ongoing for more than 48 hours at the site of a collapsed five-story building when rescuers stumbled upon the terrified cat.

“When they finally pulled it from under the wreckage, the scared animal scratched one of the rescuers in fear,” said the SES.

Despite the “injury”, the rescuers managed to save the “resilient survivor” who had been waiting for help for a long time. The cat is now safe.

As a reminder, at the end of May, law enforcement rescued an injured roe deer that had run into a local's yard but was unable to find its way out.
