The Russian Federation is modernizing its ballistic missiles to complicate the operations of Ukrainian air defense forces.
This was stated by Yuri Ignat, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a television marathon.
Modernization of Russian Ballistic Missiles
Following their upgrade, Russian ballistic missiles can release radar decoys, which complicate the effectiveness of the Patriot system.
«We have information from our partners that the enemy has upgraded its missiles that strike on a ballistic trajectory, specifically the Iskander-M, which can release radar decoys during their approach to the target», - the spokesperson reported.
This may lead to less effective air defense operations.
«The flight of a ballistic missile on such a quasi-ballistic trajectory, where the missile does not travel in a straight line but maneuvers, makes it more difficult for the Patriot system to predict the interception point», - Ignat added.
