New Love Alley in Kyiv

On May 9 at 12:00 in Navodnytsky Park in Kyiv, near the monument to the founders of the city, the Love Alley will be established. During the event, families of fallen Heroes will plant 30 blooming cherry trees and other decorative trees as a tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom.

This initiative was announced by Olena Sokalska, the leader of the project LIVE.

What to Know About the Love Alley

The organizers explain their choice of cherry trees due to their deep symbolism in Japanese culture. Their brief yet vibrant bloom serves as a reminder of the value of every moment and the fragility of life, embodying the strength to cultivate beauty, even knowing it is fleeting. These qualities make the cherry tree a central symbol of the new Alley.

About the LIVE Project

The Love Alley project was initiated by the community of wives and mothers of fallen Heroes known as LIVE, which includes over 300 participants from 25 cities in Ukraine. For more than two years, these women have been transforming their pain into art through art rehabilitation workshops and exhibitions of love story paintings.

The cherry trees and other flowering trees for the Love Alley were grown by the team of the EKO-KRAINA nursery, which has also experienced loss but continues to persevere.

The team actively contributes to supporting the Ukrainian military, directing 10% of their income to the needs of special operations forces.

Details About the Love Alley in Navodnytsky Park

The location for the Alley was chosen deliberately. Here, near the monument to the founders of Kyiv, residents have long declared their love and celebrated weddings. Participants of the LIVE project share their touching stories connected to this place. From now on, cherry trees will bloom here every spring, symbolizing a love that, according to the authors, can overcome death and remain in the heart forever.

“Kyiv is a city of love. Especially in May when everything is in bloom. Despite the destruction of the war, we want to cultivate life and beauty that grows from memory, pain, and hope,” the organizers state.

The LIVE project gifts the city this Love Alley, and the city authorities promise to care for and protect the planted trees.
