On April 24, following a missile strike on Kyiv, soldiers joined the efforts to clear the debris of the destroyed building.
In particular, a National Guard member saved a three-year-old girl, her parents, and their dog, as reported by the National Guard.
The heroic rescuer was Maxim Timoshko, a soldier from one of the units of the Northern Operational Territorial Association of the National Guard.
"First, I took the child. I handed her to my comrade and returned for the adults. The father was severely injured, so I carried him out to the ambulance right away, then returned for the mother and the dog.
It was difficult to reach them – I had to break down doors and act very quickly. Every second could have been the last," Maxim recounted.
After the rescue, the family was evacuated from the strike site and handed over to medical personnel.
It should be noted that during the massive missile attack on Kyiv on the night of April 24, one of the missiles hit a residential building in the Svyatoshynskyi district. 12 people died, and 87 were injured.
Among the deceased was 17-year-old student Danylo Khudya from Kyiv Aviation College. His friends had been waiting by the rubble since early morning, hoping for a miracle.
