On the night of April 24, emergency services extinguished around 40 fires across nine regions caused by a massive Russian missile and drone attack. In the Zhytomyr region, a rescuer was injured by a second strike.

Direct quote from the minister: "This night, DSNS rescuers dealt with about 40 fire outbreaks in nine regions of the country. Kyiv and the region, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia were under a massive combined attack by Russia."
Kyiv suffered the most; rescuers operated at 13 locations. As of 7:30 AM, there were 9 confirmed deaths due to the Russian strike, with over 70 people injured.
Details: According to Klymenko, the firefighting efforts continued throughout the night amid the threat of further bombardments.
"In Zhytomyr, the enemy launched a repeated strike on the DSNS unit that arrived to extinguish the fire. A 39-year-old rescuer was injured," Klymenko summarized.
