The suspension of funding by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) could have significant repercussions for Ukraine's agricultural sector. The government is actively seeking solutions to address this issue and attract additional financial resources.
This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval during the Grain Storage Forum in Kyiv on Friday, as reported by "Interfax-Ukraine".
"Certainly, the suspension of USAID project financing will negatively impact the activities of the agricultural sector. Many producers were expecting the delivery of equipment that had already been partially funded", he stated.
Koval emphasized that relying on a single source of funding in wartime conditions is an overly risky strategy.
Thus, the government is exploring options to replace American funding with European investments for ongoing projects.
President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Mykola Horbachov added that the suspension of financial support could lead to the potential dismissal of 160 highly qualified specialists from the Ukrainian representation of USAID across various programs.
