US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is scheduled to visit Kyiv this week to initiate discussions on engaging American companies in the development of Ukrainian minerals.

This information comes from Bloomberg, citing its sources.

Bessent will be the first member of Donald Trump's cabinet to visit Ukraine.

National Security Advisor Mike Woltz stated on Sunday that the future of aid to Ukraine will be a topic of discussion this week.

On February 3, President Donald Trump expressed interest in negotiating a deal with Ukraine for rare earth metals in exchange for arms supplies.

President Zelensky later indicated plans to meet with senior US officials.

"We need to recoup these costs, and it will be a partnership with Ukrainians regarding their rare earths, natural resources, oil and gas, as well as purchasing our products," Woltz said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "These discussions will take place this week," Bloomberg quotes Woltz.
