The Security Service of Ukraine has reported the arrest of another FSB agent in Kharkiv.
"According to the case materials, a 19-year-old local resident was identified as a hostile accomplice whose mother was arrested in January 2025 for organizing a terrorist attack," the SBU stated.
After his mother was detained for attempting to bomb a Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran, the young man traveled to relatives in Moscow, where he came under the scrutiny of Russian intelligence officers.
Initially, he was recruited by the enemy and then "returned" to Kharkiv to carry out assignments.
To entice the young man into collaboration, the Russians promised him further "evacuation" to Russia, along with a departmental award from the FSB and assistance in enrolling in a Russian university. He later returned to Kharkiv and started surveilling military installations, including logistics warehouses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To gather intelligence, the agent roamed the area, covertly photographing potential "targets" and marking their coordinates on Google Maps. He then compiled the intelligence, added his own comments, and stored it on his smartphone for an "update" to the FSB.
SBU operatives identified the offender early, documented his crimes, and arrested him at his residence. During the searches, they seized a mobile phone containing geolocations of Ukrainian sites and an anonymous chat with an FSB handler.
Investigators of the Security Service have notified the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
The offender is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
