The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another Russian agent who was spying on the Ukrainian military aviation in the western region of the country.
According to the investigation, a 20-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi caught the attention of the enemy while seeking «easy earnings» through Telegram channels.
The main task assigned to this individual was to track the locations, numbers, and schedules of Ukrainian combat aircraft.
To achieve this, the Russian agent set up hidden cameras near military airbases that provided live streaming and remote access for Russian special services.
In this way, the occupiers hoped to monitor the presence and types of aviation at domestic airfields in real-time.
SBU operatives caught the agent «red-handed» as he was setting up traps in the vicinity of a military facility.
During the searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was confiscated from the detainee.
The Security Service has informed him of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The wrongdoer is currently in custody and faces a life sentence with asset confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were conducted under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
