The Security Service of Ukraine has successfully disrupted another terrorist threat in Dnipro. Thanks to the proactive measures of counterintelligence, a woman was arrested while acting on behalf of Russian intelligence, preparing for an explosion in a frontline city.
The arrest occurred as she attempted to place a homemade explosive device under the car of a National Police officer. Law enforcement caught her in the act.
She tried to remotely detonate the explosive, but the SBU was able to prevent the explosion. It was revealed that the 38-year-old woman from Kharkiv had been recruited by Russians through social media.
After receiving instructions, she traveled to Dnipro, retrieved the hidden explosives, and proceeded to the designated location.
Investigators have charged her with an attempted terrorist act, and she faces up to 12 years in prison. The SBU continues its efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
