A new memorial honoring military chaplains has been unveiled in Kyiv, located on the Alley of Defenders of Ukraine near the Freedom Arch. This was reported by the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The event took place on October 12, coinciding with Military Chaplains Day.
“This new monument symbolizes profound gratitude and respect for the selfless service of chaplains who are always beside soldiers on the front lines, supporting them with words, prayers, and faith. It commemorates their contribution to the defense of Ukraine, ensuring its safety and resisting aggression from the Russian Federation,” the statement reads.
Among the attendees were government representatives, officers from the Military Chaplaincy Service, chaplains from various denominations, military personnel, artists from the creative community “Cultural Forces,” as well as Kyiv residents and visitors.
Following the ceremony, an interdenominational prayer service for Ukraine was held at the St. Sophia Cathedral.
“On this sunny autumn day, participants honored all military chaplains with a moment of silence and a joint prayer, as they stand beside soldiers every day, providing pastoral support and faith in Ukraine's victory,” the Military Chaplaincy Service reported.
