The law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, have identified 22 individuals linked to the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians at the «Kalyninsky Correctional Facility» in the occupied territory of Donetsk.
This facility has been transformed into a true center of torture, where Ukrainian captives were systematically subjected to violence.
Among the perpetrators are employees of the facility who switched sides after the region was occupied in 2014.
These include self-proclaimed «operational heads», «assistant heads of the institution», «military guards commanders», and «security inspectors». They followed orders from Russian supervisors, coordinating beatings and torture of Ukrainians.
With the assistance of GUR MO of Ukraine, the National Police investigators have notified 22 suspects of their involvement in war crimes.
Intelligence officers continue to identify the torturers and their links to the occupation administration and Russian military formations.
All the gathered evidence may be forwarded to the International Criminal Court for further prosecution of the criminals.
