Officials from the State Bureau of Investigation have charged the head of the Mykolaiv Apartment Management Office with embezzling 1.4 million UAH allocated for the country's defense.
The official was tasked with purchasing fuel wood for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Knowing the actual cost of the product, he devised a scheme to profit from the purchases. Through a shell company, he bought the wood from the forestry enterprises of the state enterprise «Forests of Ukraine», and then sold it to his own office at double the price. This allowed the official to earn over 1.4 million UAH.
To ensure compensation for the damages to the state, the official's property has been seized.
Currently, the head has been dismissed from his position, and he has been charged with embezzlement of someone else's property through abuse of power by an official, in collusion with a group of persons under martial law, committed in particularly large amounts (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
The Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region is conducting the proceedings.
