Klitschko on the State of Shelters in Kyiv

Vitaliy Klitschko: Today, together with district heads, we inspected shelters in the Solomyansky district that require urgent repairs and preparations for use during air alerts.

Kyiv is actively working to improve the condition of protective structures and is expanding the network of shelters, especially in remote areas.

Currently, there are over 4,350 shelters of various types in the city. Among them, 696 are state-owned, 2,576 are communal, and 1,084 are private.

Since the beginning of the war, nearly 2,500 shelters have been renovated. The city has allocated almost UAH 3.4 billion for this purpose, with funds distributed through district administrations responsible for repairs.

This year, Kyiv plans to allocate over UAH 4 billion for the construction of new shelters and the capital repair of existing ones. However, as of September, only UAH 819 million of this amount has been utilized, which is approximately 20%. I urged the district heads to take their responsibilities regarding the arrangement of shelters seriously. We will be conducting inspections in other districts as well.

The pace of using allocated funds for shelters in the Solomyansky, Desnyansky, and Holosiivskyi districts remains unsatisfactory.
