Ukrtransgaz, the operator of gas storage facilities in Ukraine, has conducted vertical seismic profiling for the first time to create 3D models of gas storage sites.

The company's press service reported this.

"In simpler terms, we looked deep underground to obtain a clear "image" of the geological structure, based on which we model our storage facilities. This is essential for better understanding how underground gas storage works and how to manage it safely and efficiently," - explained Ukrtransgaz.

The research at the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske gas storage facility in Lviv region was carried out by Ukrtransgaz geophysicists in collaboration with the service company "Horizons" and specialists from the Gas Transport Institute.
