On July 12 at 10:33 PM, an 18-year-old girl contacted the police, reporting that her father was threatening the family with a grenade and firearms in Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka.
Police from the Bucha district and special forces quickly arrived at the scene.
As officers entered the house to stop the offense, the assailant detonated a grenade and threw it towards the police. After the explosion, to halt the assailant's illegal actions, officers fired at him. The 41-year-old suspect was killed on the spot.
As a result of the grenade explosion, five police officers sustained shrapnel wounds and were taken to the hospital for necessary medical assistance.
During a search of the premises, four pistols, an explosive grenade, a hunting rifle, and a knife were seized.
Investigators have opened a criminal case regarding illegal handling of weapons, military supplies, or explosives, and the assault on the life of a law enforcement officer (Part 1 of Article 263, Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation continue to work at the scene.
