Collaboration for Business Support in Ukraine

Collaboration is underway in the field of business support, innovation, and economic recovery.

A recently signed document in Kyiv outlines joint efforts to revitalize small and medium enterprises, share experiences in the digital economy, sustainable production, and the development of industrial parks.

The signing took place with the participation of representatives from the Kyiv City State Administration, the Leipzig City Hall, business associations from both cities, and international experts.

Kyiv serves as a key center for Ukrainian entrepreneurship, where decisions are made that hold significance far beyond the city's boundaries.

“It is crucial for us that strategic initiatives in business are implemented in collaboration with those who share our values and envision Ukraine's future within the European community,” emphasized Anna Starostenko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The signing of the Memorandum with Leipzig represents a logical continuation of years of interaction, now transitioning into economic development.

“We understand that the effectiveness of supporting small and medium enterprises today will determine the pace and quality of recovery not only for the capital but for all of Ukraine. Partnership with Leipzig opens new avenues for Kyiv — from attracting investments to joint educational programs for entrepreneurs,” Anna Starostenko noted.

Key areas of cooperation include:

  • supporting business recovery in Kyiv and attracting investments;
  • joint incubation and acceleration programs for startups;
  • development of ecological entrepreneurship and a circular economy;
  • digital transformation and automation for small businesses;
  • hosting business forums, exhibitions, and training programs.

“Kyiv and Leipzig are not just sister cities. From the very first days of the full-scale aggression, Leipzig supported Kyiv, and we are sincerely grateful for this assistance. Today, we are laying the groundwork for a strategic partnership in entrepreneurship. Leipzig’s city hall understands how crucial it is to support Ukrainian businesses, as they will be the foundation for the rapid recovery of the capital and the economy of the entire country,” stated Volodymyr Kostiukov, Director of the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The implementation of the Memorandum's provisions will enable Kyiv entrepreneurs to access new markets, financing tools, educational programs, and technologies. The first pilot project — the Kyiv-Leipzig Business School for young entrepreneurs — is set to launch soon.

Collaboration with Leipzig is part of Kyiv’s systemic international strategy for post-war economic recovery, entrepreneurial environment development, and integration into the European economic community.
