In Gnivanya, a 13-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after climbing onto the roof of a freight train car and touching a high-voltage line.

The victim was urgently hospitalized in critical condition, according to the regional National Police and the State Emergency Service.

On the evening of June 21, the teenager climbed onto a stationary tank car. While there, he grabbed the high-voltage line, resulting in an electric shock.

The incident was reported by a local railway station employee. By the time rescuers arrived, the child was lying on the ground between the tracks.

“Rescuers, together with police officers, retrieved the teenager and handed him over to the emergency medical team,” the State Emergency Service added.

The injured boy was hospitalized in the Center for Thermal Trauma and Plastic Surgery of the regional hospital.

A police investigative team is working at the scene.

“We urge parents to explain to their children that railways are not a place for play. The contact network is under high voltage and can be deadly even without contact,” warned the State Emergency Service.
