On April 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a list of 400 children abducted by Russia from temporarily occupied territories to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Direct quote: "Children are being held in Russia against their will due to the ongoing war. Unfortunately, we face this horrific issue. Russians have abducted tens of thousands of children from the occupied areas of Ukraine.

We must bring them back home, just like the thousands of soldiers and civilians who have been held in inhumane conditions in Russian prisons for years. South Africa plays a crucial role in our coalition to return Ukrainian children. I hope President Ramaphosa will assist us in this endeavor."
