The national stage of the Teens in AI hackathon was held for the second time in Ukraine, attracting youth from all over the country.
Ten teams of teenagers presented innovative solutions on how artificial intelligence can help tackle modern challenges — debunking medical myths, overcoming gender stereotypes, and enhancing access to education. Participants came from various cities, from Lviv to Kharkiv.
«Artificial intelligence has already become a part of our lives. It helps address critical issues in defense, education, and healthcare. It's important not just to observe these changes but to actively participate in them. The Teens in AI hackathon is a wonderful opportunity for youth to realize their ideas and be part of the technological revolution,» stated Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fedorov.
The teams presented solutions for predicting epidemics, improving educational access in rural areas, providing mental support for students, and text-to-speech services for visually impaired individuals.
In the week leading up to the hackathon, participants attended lectures and workshops on artificial intelligence, programming, and design thinking, gaining insights from experts.
«The hackathon demonstrated that participants are not just generating ideas, but creating real products aimed at enhancing education and addressing social issues. The winners impressed with the depth of their solutions, incorporating elements of gender equality and combating misinformation. It is gratifying to see projects utilizing the “All-Ukrainian School Online” initiative for personalized learning,» remarked Deputy Minister of Education Dmitry Zavgorodniy.
The winners include:
- HARBOUR SEALS from the «Lyceum of New Learning Technologies» in Kropyvnytskyi. Their project Equilla identifies gender discrimination in social media and offers alternative comments.
- PL_KPI from the Polytechnic Lyceum of KPI. The team created the EmoPuzzle platform for children on the autism spectrum, helping them understand emotions.
- Inferno from the «Scientific Change» lyceum in Kyiv. The Pure Mind platform allows users to create notes and tests based on videos.
The Equilla project will advance to the international round of the hackathon, where 97 countries will compete.
This event is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Lviv IT Cluster.
