As a result, 370 new ammunition models have been approved for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which 250 are designed for drones. This information was released by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The project initially focused only on drone ammunition but was subsequently expanded to include all types of shells. A total of 76 new companies have been included in the Register of state contract participants, marking their first status as manufacturers. This has increased competition in the market and expanded the product range. Additionally, the reduction of approval processes to just a few days has expedited the development and delivery of ammunition.
"The most significant results are visible on the battlefield. The share of mortar and artillery shells produced in Ukraine has increased by 50%. This indicates the successful establishment of closed production cycles," emphasized Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Furthermore, within the framework of an experimental program in 2025, the Ministry of Defense has initiated joint projects with 12 special chemistry manufacturers to kickstart the production of critical explosives.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ukrainian interceptor drone named Octopus has entered series production. According to Denys Shmyhal, the technology has been handed over to the first three manufacturers, while another eleven are preparing their production lines.
He also highlighted that the technology was developed by the Armed Forces and validated in combat. These drones operate at night, under jamming conditions, and at low altitudes.
