The Ukrainian company L7 Simulators has unveiled a new model of its training simulator for UAV interceptor crews, named "Guardian". The company announced this on social media.
This training complex allows the practice of skills for detecting, tracking, and intercepting enemy drones in conditions that closely resemble reality. It offers a realistic simulation of flight and interception, without the risk to actual equipment. Furthermore, the simulator can be deployed quickly, and its interface closely resembles standard ground stations used by UAV interceptor pilots.
"Guardian" trains users to operate in combat environments, enhancing their reaction times and abilities to track and hit targets in conditions similar to real combat.
The simulator features realistic target behavior and trajectory modeling. It also supports simulations of multirotors and fixed-wing drones. It includes two workstations for the Navigator (tactician) and Pilot (operator), allowing them to practice their interaction in a realistic simulation environment.
"The training complex simulates a complete air confrontation between the UAV interceptor crew and enemy UAVs, where the Navigator detects a target, tracks it, relays coordinates or directs weaponry, supports the pilot in combat, while the Pilot maneuvers the drone in the air, executing maneuvers and maintaining combat contact with the target," the system description states.
The importance of such a complex arises as Ukraine actively develops UAV interceptor technologies and produces them. One of the most interesting solutions is the drone "General Chereshnya Bullet", capable of taking down "Shahed drones". This model accelerates to over 309 km/h and is already being prepared for mass production.
Another notable interceptor is the Sting from the "Wild Hornets", which recently achieved speeds exceeding 315 km/h. This drone model has already downed over 900 targets in just a few months.
Additionally, L7 Simulators has other simulators in their lineup. Previously, they developed a simulator for the MK 19 grenade launcher, allowing high-quality training for operators in a safe virtual environment with full combat application simulation.
Another innovation by L7 Simulators is a virtual trainer for taking down FPV drones with a shotgun. During training, soldiers hold a nearly real shotgun and shoot at virtual FPV drones visible in their goggles and audible through headphones.
