Revolutionary App Detects Heart Diseases Instantly

A 14-year-old Indian software developer, Siddharth Nandyala, has launched an innovative mobile application called Circadian AI, which can detect heart diseases in just a few seconds, according to Smithsonian Magazine.

Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide, yet their early symptoms often go unnoticed. This is largely due to the expensive procedures and complex tests typically required for diagnosis, which are not accessible to many patients, especially in poorer countries. Nandyala aimed to change this by creating an affordable and non-invasive diagnostic method.

The Circadian AI app utilizes the smartphone's microphone to record the patient's heartbeat. The recorded sound undergoes noise cancellation processing and is then analyzed in the cloud using machine learning algorithms. Within seconds, the app can identify arrhythmias, valve issues, early signs of heart failure, or ischemic heart disease.

The app has already undergone clinical trials, being tested on 15,000 patients in the U.S. and 3,500 in India, achieving a diagnostic accuracy of over 96%.

Currently, Circadian AI is only available to medical professionals as it undergoes regulatory review. In the future, Nandyala plans to expand its capabilities to also diagnose respiratory diseases such as pneumonia and thromboembolism.

This technology could become a crucial tool for early disease detection, particularly in areas with limited access to healthcare services.
