Important Changes to Microsoft Authenticator: What You Should Know

Microsoft has announced crucial updates regarding its Authenticator application.

Starting from June 2025, users will no longer be able to store passwords in the app, and from July, the auto-fill feature will be disabled. By August, saved passwords will also be deleted. This means that any generated passwords will not be retrievable, with access to stored passwords only available through the Microsoft Edge browser. However, the Authenticator will continue to support access keys.

Users are advised to back up all their passwords to prevent losing access to essential accounts, such as email and banking services. Additionally, from July, all payment information will also be removed from the app.

For password auto-fill, Microsoft suggests considering alternative password managers like Google Password Manager or iCloud Keychain.
