Virtual Writing Course by Agatha Christie

BBC Studios has harnessed neural networks to recreate the voice and appearance of the renowned detective author Agatha Christie, transforming her into a virtual instructor. Actress Vivien Keene was recruited for this role, with her likeness modified using AI to resemble Christie.

The course titled Agatha Christie Writing is now available on the BBC Maestro platform — a subscription-based online service for $10 a month, offering instructional materials from professionals across various fields, including cooking, design, and personal development.

James Prichard, the great-grandson of the author, noted that the lessons are structured using "the words of Agatha herself," although the content has been crafted by a team of scholars and experts rather than being automatically generated by a neural network. The course materials are grounded in real quotes, interviews, audio recordings, photographs, and personal notes of Christie. BBC collaborated with the author’s heirs to ensure the project’s authenticity.

The program includes 11 video lessons and 12 practical assignments that teach how to create plot structures, develop suspense, and build tension. The course is aimed at aspiring writers who wish to pen detective stories, drawing inspiration from one of the most successful authors in the genre.
