Today, March 8, the final of the European Indoor Athletics Championships in men's high jump took place, where Ukrainian athlete Oleg Doroshchuk won the gold medal by clearing a height of 2.34 meters.

This marks Ukraine's first gold medal in the history of the European Indoor High Jump Championships. Oleg also set a new personal best, improving from his previous record of 2.32 meters.

His compatriot, Dmytro Nikitin, finished fifth with a result of 2.26 meters.

The silver medal was won by Czech athlete Jan Štefela, who jumped 2.29 meters. The bronze went to Matteo Sioli from Italy, who also achieved 2.29 meters, but the Czech athlete used fewer attempts.

It is known that during the qualification, athletes cleared the bar at 2.23 meters, while Vadym Kravchuk did not qualify for the final.

Doroshchuk reached the final of the European Indoor Championships for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, Nikitin competed for the second time for medals at the European Indoor Championships, having finished fifth in 2021 with a height of 2.23 meters.

It is worth noting that yesterday, Yaroslav Maguchikh qualified for the women's high jump final, achieving the shortest qualification of her career.
