On November 23, 2025, the World Boxing Congress took place in Rome, Italy, where a significant decision was made to grant Ukraine full membership in the international organization World Boxing.
During the congress, Gennady Golovkin was also elected as the new president of World Boxing.
It is worth noting that World Boxing — established in 2023 — aims to regulate amateur boxing and maintain its status as an Olympic sport. The organization unites national federations that uphold principles of transparent governance and comply with the Olympic movement's requirements.
