The World Wrestling Championship for athletes under 23 is taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia. Ukrainian wrestler Yegor Yakushenko competed in the 97 kg weight category and secured the gold medal.
Yegor began his journey in the 1/8 finals, defeating Georgian wrestler Luka Gabisonia. In the quarter-finals, he triumphed over neutral wrestler Abubakar Haslakhonov. He then faced Estonian Richard Karelov in the semi-finals, winning decisively.
In the final match, Yegor fought against Kazakh wrestler Yusup Matiev and emerged victorious once again.
Thus, Yegor Yakushenko is the World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 23 years old.
It is worth noting that in August, Yegor also won gold competing among athletes under 20. He trains under coach Mykola Yelarinov at the 'Olympietz' sports club in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv.
