Daria Mironyuk has emerged as the champion of the Ukrainian Cup in individual epee fencing.
In the final match, she proved stronger than Alina Polozyuk with a score of 14:10.
On her path to defending her championship title, Daria overcame five opponents. After confident victories over Daria Husarenko and bronze medalist from the recent junior Ukrainian championship, Svitlana Bryzhalova, Mironyuk triumphed over her teammates from the Armed Forces Sports Club. Specifically, in the quarter-finals, she won by priority with a single touch against Anna Taranenko (12:11), and in the semi-finals, she defeated Anastasia Sadiy (8:5).
"I am very happy. I have been ill for the past week, and my condition was not the best. But I managed to bring home the gold, and to do it here at home. I am very happy," said Mironyuk about her victory.
