The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has mandated heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) to face interim champion Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs).
This information comes from the organization's press service.
The teams have been given 30 days to negotiate a fight agreement, otherwise, a purse bid will be scheduled.
If Usyk declines to defend his WBO title, he will have to vacate it, losing his title of undisputed boxing champion.
It should be noted that Usyk recently knocked out British fighter Daniel Dubois and became the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.72 kg) for the second time, making history.
Joseph fought his last match in February, where he was supposed to meet Dubois, but the Brit withdrew due to illness just three days before the fight. Martin Bakole replaced him, and Parker knocked out the Congolese fighter in the second round.
Additionally, Usyk and Parker had already discussed a potential bout immediately after Usyk's fight with Dubois.
