Controversies at Wimbledon: Nikita Bilozertsev Loses in Doubles

16-year-old Nikita Bilozertsev, the top junior in Ukraine, partnered with Austrian Tilo Bermann and lost today at Wimbledon to the Dutch duo of Mees Rottgering and Gideon Schoenmakers with a score of 1:6, 2:6.

Before the match, the Champion arranged for an interview with Bilozertsev through the Wimbledon press service. Nikita arrived with his Bulgarian coach, Stefan Pantov.

After his win against Kazakh Amir Omarkhanov (6:4, 6:2), we spoke with Nikita, who answered questions in Russian while his coach listened closely.

Today, Pantov suggested that the interview be conducted in English since he doesn’t understand Ukrainian. He also agreed to questions in Russian.

However, we decided to cancel the interview as we had questions for Bilozertsev, not for his coach.

Meanwhile, rumors have emerged that the junior might change his Ukrainian citizenship to Bulgarian. This has been confirmed by three independent sources.

Bilozertsev’s coach, Stefan Pantov, also serves as a regional coordinator for the Bulgarian Tennis Federation, which adds weight to these rumors.
