The head coach of the Ukrainian youth team, Valeriy Plehanov, shared his thoughts after the team's victory in the second friendly match against Finland's U-20 team, mentioning the injury of one of the key players, Luka Lokhmanychuk.
Plehanov's comments were published by the FBU.
The coach expressed his overall satisfaction with his players' performance. However, the team is facing some injury issues.
"Unfortunately, we have some unpleasant news – Syipalo sustained an injury. He was hit while trying to score, and sadly, he injured his shoulder, so we decided not to take any risks with his health. I hope he will return to training in a few days. As for Lokhmanychuk, we agreed that he will definitely participate in the Euro and will be included in the final squad", – Plehanov stated.
This match against the Finns was the final stage of preparation for the European Championship in Division A. Our team managed to avenge the loss from the first match.
EuroBasket 2025 in Division A among men's youth teams will take place in Heraklion, Greece, from July 12 to 20. The Ukrainian team has been placed in Group C, where they will compete against Belgium, Germany, and Italy.
