The 2025 Wimbledon tournament began with astonishing events. Eight players from the top 10 were eliminated in the first round, marking an unprecedented occurrence in Grand Slam history.

According to reports from Opta Ace, this is indeed a remarkable statistic.

Among the winners is Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska (42), who stunned everyone by defeating world number two Coco Gauff in her opening match. The American couldn't hold back her tears after the loss.

On the men's side, players already eliminated include: Alexander Zverev (3), Holger Rune (8), Lorenzo Musetti (7), and Daniil Medvedev (9). For the women, Jessica Pegula (3), Zheng Qinwen (8), and Paula Badosa (9) have also exited the tournament.

It’s worth mentioning that Elina Svitolina easily defeated Hungarian player Anna Bondar (75) in her first match at Wimbledon. Yulia Starodubtseva triumphed over British player Francesca Jones (122).

Unfortunately, Marta Kostyuk was unable to advance past the first round, losing to Slovenian tennis player Veronika Erjavec (171).
