Ukrainian high jumper Vadym Kravchuk secured a silver medal at the prestigious competition in Košice, part of the "silver" series of the Continental tour.

This was Kravchuk's first competition after his performance at the Ukrainian team championship, where he finished third, falling behind D. Nikitin and V. Lavsky.

In Košice, Lavsky was also among the competitors, marking his first international appearance in 2025. Other notable athletes included silver medalist from Euro-2022 Tobias Potie and this year's indoor silver medalist Jan Štefela from the Czech Republic, as well as Mexican Edgar Rivera and Italians Marco Fassinotti and Manuel Lando.

How did the high jump competition unfold in Košice?

  • Lavsky exited the competition after failing to clear 2.21 m. In contrast, Kravchuk successfully cleared this height on his second attempt.
  • The critical moment came at the 2.25 m mark, which both Kravchuk and Štefela cleared on their third attempts, while four other jumpers, including Rivera and Fassinotti, failed to clear it.
  • The battle for the gold ended with Kravchuk losing to Štefela, who cleared 2.28 m on his first attempt. After two unsuccessful attempts, Kravchuk raised the bar to 2.31 m but was unable to clear it as well.
