Athletics: Marina Kilypko has won the Ukrainian Pole Vault Cup. The 29-year-old athlete from Kharkiv showcased her best performance in four years.
This Ukrainian Cup marked Kilypko's first competition of the summer season. Her last competition was at the indoor national championship, where she won with a result of 4.40 m.
Five athletes participated in the Ukrainian Cup held in Lutsk. Another competitor, Yulia Kozub, finished with an "NM" (no mark) after three unsuccessful attempts at the starting height.
How did the Ukrainian Cup 2025 pole vault competition go?
- Kilypko began her competition at a height of 4.00 m. By the time she started, only one athlete remained in the sector – Tetiana Hamora, who was competing against Kilypko for the gold.
- Kilypko cleared the starting height on her first attempt, while her only rival, Hamora, failed three times and ended up with a silver medal.
- The next height for Kilypko was 4.20 m, which she cleared on her second attempt, followed by successfully jumping over 4.30 and 4.40 m.
- The final height for Kilypko was 4.50 m, which she cleared on her third attempt. She attempted to jump 4.60 m, but all three attempts were unsuccessful.
