Ukrainian grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk maintains his winning streak that began at the start of 2025, having just clinched the team championship in Germany for blitz chess.
This was reported by Chessdom.
The "Great Chaki" participated in the tournament as part of the SC Remagen Sinzig team. His teammates and SG Solingen finished with the same number of points, but Remagen Sinzig accumulated more game points throughout the tournament.
The tournament was held with a blitz time control – three minutes per game plus an additional two seconds for each move. A game point in chess reflects the situation on the board where a computer recognizes a clear advantage for one of the players.
Notably, Ivanchuk played 25 games in this tournament, scoring 20 points without a single loss.
Additionally, in April, Ivanchuk secured second place in the Reykjavik tournament and claimed victory at the Menorca Open 2025.
