The silver medalist of the 2025 Ukrainian Indoor Championship in triple jump, Olga Korsun, approached the summer season start after recovering from back issues. At her last major international event – the Indoor European Championships – she did not make it to the final, finishing in 15th place.

At the Continental Tour stage in Tokyo, Korsun opened the summer season of 2025, where she was able to compete for a podium finish. Her rivals in Japan included 2015 European Youth Champion Dovile Kilty, 2024 Oceania Champion Desli Owusu, and 2023 Asian Championship winner Mariko Morimoto, among other jumpers.
How did the triple jump competition in Tokyo unfold?
- In her first jump, Korsun leaped 13.53 m, taking the lead in the competition. Her second attempt was invalidated, and in the third, she managed only 13.39 m.
- Meanwhile, Olga's competitor, 25-year-old Japanese Maoko Takashima, surpassed Korsun twice: in the second attempt, she outjumped her by 8 cm, and with her third jump, she recorded a result of 13.66 m.
- In her last three attempts, Korsun exceeded 13.40 meters twice, but this was not enough to compete with Takashima for the "gold". Ultimately, Korsun's best result was 13.53 m, which earned her the "silver" medal. The podium was completed by another Japanese athlete, Akari Funada.
