Dynamo defender Andriy Yarmolenko reacted to the decision of Ukraine's head coach Serhiy Rebrov not to call him up for the Nations League matches this autumn.
He spoke about it in Denis Boyko's podcast.
"To be honest, it was disappointing, but these things happen in football. I understood that if I'm not called up, it means there are players who can deliver better results right now."
"After being called up for the national team for 15 years, if you're not injured, and suddenly this happens, I think anyone would feel a bit upset."
"But what can you do? This is football. It's necessary to work hard, and maybe next time, I'll get the call again."
In March, Yarmolenko returned to the national team and came on as a substitute in the Nations League playoff match against Belgium (0:3).
This season, the 35-year-old player scored 10 goals and provided an assist in 30 matches for Dynamo. Recently, he marked his 113th goal in the UPL, tying the record of Serhiy Rebrov.
Recently, the player also talked about extending his contract with the Kyiv team.
