Ukrainian athlete Valeriy Chobotar has claimed a silver medal at the karate championship taking place in Yerevan (Armenia).

In the final match, the Ukrainian (under 84 kg category) lost to Croatian Ivan Kvesic.

The day before, Elina Selyemenieva and Rizvan Talibov brought home two bronze medals for Ukraine. Additionally, Angelika Terliuga was close to winning a medal as she returned to competition after giving birth.

It is worth noting that the European Championship serves as a qualifying event for the World Championship, which will be held in November in Cairo. Champions, runners-up, and bronze medalists with the best scores will qualify for the world event.

The best performance by the Ukrainian team at the European Championships was third place in 2023 in Guadalajara (Spain) with 4 medals: 3 golds (Angelika Terliuga, Andriy Zaplitny, and the men's team) and 1 silver (Anita Seryogina).
