Today, May 1st, an important match of the fourth round of Division IA of the 2025 World Championship took place, featuring the teams of Ukraine and Poland.
Before the match, both teams had six points, making it a crucial battle for second place in the group.
The first period ended without any goals scored. The situation changed at the start of the second period when Alan Lushcharchik scored on the power play.
Fortunately, thereafter, goals continued to come only for the Polish team. Viktor Zakharov equalized in the second period, and just four minutes into the third period, he scored again.
Later, Stanislav Sadovikov and Danilo Tracht added their names to the score sheet, bringing Ukraine a comeback victory with a score of 4:1.

With this victory, Ukraine caught up with the leader of Division IA, Great Britain – both teams now have nine points with one round to go. Earlier, the British defeated Italy, winning their fourth match of the tournament.
In their final match, the "blue and yellows" will face Japan. The outcome of this encounter will determine the future of the Ukrainian team: a victory guarantees a place in the elite division of the World Championship. This game will take place on Saturday, May 3.
It is worth noting that the last time the Ukrainian national hockey team played in the elite division was back in 2007, when the World Championship was held in Moscow.
