The legendary Ukrainian chess player Vasyl Ivanchuk claimed victory at the Menorca Open 2025 held in Spain.

The grandmaster completed all 9 rounds without a single defeat, winning 7 matches and drawing 2.

The tournament featured classic time controls, and players were not allowed to offer a draw before reaching 30 moves. The total prize fund was 26,000 euros, with Ivanchuk receiving 6,000.

It is worth noting that the last major tournament won by the Ukrainian athlete was the Bydgoszcz Chess Festival, which took place in the summer of 2023.

Previously, Vasyl Ivanchuk finished just short of victory at the Reykjavik Open 2025, securing second place.
