Microsoft Regains Crown: Tech Market Analysis

Following a four-day drop of 23% in Apple’s stock, Microsoft has reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable company. As of Tuesday, April 8, its market capitalization reached $2.64 trillion, while Apple stood at $2.59 trillion, according to CNBC.

Apple was the most affected among tech giants due to the latest wave of tariffs from President Donald Trump, primarily due to its heavy reliance on Chinese suppliers. Overall, the Nasdaq index dropped by 13% over four sessions, and UBS forecasts that the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the U.S. could increase by $350 due to the new tariffs.

Not long ago, the combined market capitalization of Apple, Microsoft, and NVIDIA exceeded $3 trillion, but market downturns have changed the landscape. Although Microsoft reported a weak forecast in January, Jefferies analysts recently identified it as one of the least vulnerable companies to tariff instability.

Microsoft was already leading in market value at the beginning of 2024, but Apple quickly regained its top position thereafter.
