On September 17 at 7:00 PM, the bookstore “Sens” (Khreshchatyk, 34) in Kyiv will host the presentation of the book “Olenivka. Crime. Memory. Broken System”. Authors and witnesses will participate in the event.

This was announced by Gayane Avakyan, co-founder of the Memorial Memory Platform, on her Facebook page.

“The book compiles all available testimonies regarding the Russian war crime in Olenivka, which remains unpunished; we honor the deceased by naming them and sharing their stories”, – the event organizers stated.

During the meeting, the following topics will be discussed:

  • the reconstruction of events before, during, and after the explosion at the penal colony;
  • the importance of memory in transitional justice;
  • the reasons behind the international justice system's inability to combat Russian war crimes.

The book is prepared by: The Ukrainians Publishing, Memorial Memory Platform, Media Initiative for Human Rights.
