On June 22, the NTK Stadium named after Viktor Bannikov in Kyiv will host a charity amputee football tournament called "Heroes on the Field". This event, organized by Mastercard and Oschadbank in partnership with the Ukrainian Football Association, will bring together veterans and Ukrainian sports stars to raise awareness about adaptive sports and collect funds for the "League of the Strong" project, which helps military personnel with amputations.
The "Heroes on the Field" tournament is a continuation of last year's initiative, where veterans with amputations first met on the football field alongside Ukrainian stars. That event raised over 7.7 million UAH for prosthetics for patients at the Superhumans Center.
This year's event will take place in a tournament format with amputee football rules, featuring four teams competing in two semifinals, a third-place match, and a final. Each match will consist of two halves of 20 minutes with a 10-minute break.
In total, over 50 amputee football players from various regions of Ukraine will participate, with Ukrainian stars such as Yevhen Klopotenko and Oleksandr Sydorenko (Fozzi) serving as goalkeepers. According to amputee football rules, goalkeepers may only use one hand while the other is secured in a special corset to comply with the game conditions.
The "Heroes on the Field" tournament is open to the public: you can attend the event for free on June 22 starting at 10:30 at the NTK Stadium named after Viktor Bannikov. The event will be streamed live on the official UAF YouTube channel and will also be broadcast by the MEGOGO media service on the "MEGOGO Football First" channel and the "MEGOGO SPORT" television channel, which airs on T2 and cable networks.
