In December, Ukrzaliznytsia will begin winter operations for children's trains in four cities across Ukraine — Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, and Rivne.

The Kyiv Children's Railway will open on December 25, 2025.

Tickets and schedules are already available online starting December 17 — via the app and on the Ukrzaliznytsia website.

Now, planning a winter trip with children, family, or friends is even easier — no queues and the option to choose a convenient time in the desired city.

For every ticket purchased, 250 "hugs" are awarded — these can be exchanged for discounts and partner services in the loyalty program.

This year, the travel costs are: in a standard carriage — 80 UAH (child) and 110 UAH (adult); in a retro carriage — 90 UAH (child) and 130 UAH (adult); in a luxury carriage — 100 UAH (child) and 150 UAH (adult).

For those dreaming of becoming a driver or conductor: the UZ website provides contacts for enrolling in free training for children aged 10–12.

The Kyiv-Passenger Children's Station is a miniature copy of the capital's Central Railway Station. On the route, passengers will see 27 stands with information about the regional centers of Ukraine, as well as Kyiv and Sevastopol, receive informational and heraldic details, and learn about local attractions.

Interestingly, the first train on the Kyiv Children's Railway ran on August 2, 1953. In 2018, a major reconstruction began, and now the route length is 6.7 km, with two stations operating — "Kyiv-Passenger — Children's" and "Zaliznychna".
