Ukraine commemorates an important occasion – Military Counterintelligence Day of the Security Service of Ukraine.

This professional holiday was established in 1991 through a decree of then-President Leonid Kravchuk, marking the beginning of military counterintelligence operations in an independent Ukraine. The department of the SBU functions as a vital unit within the Central Administration.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, extended his greetings to the military counterintelligence personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine.

He stated, "Today we honor the military counterintelligence officers who identify and neutralize enemy networks, spies, saboteurs, and traitors."

Syrskyi emphasized that during the war for Ukraine's independence, the role of counterintelligence officers is exceptional, as they operate on the front lines of the 'invisible front,' uncovering and dismantling Russian intelligence networks in the rear.

"On this day, I bow my head in memory of every brave Ukrainian counterintelligence officer who sacrificed their lives in the fight against the Russian empire of evil. I express my deep gratitude to our counterintelligence for every disrupted plan of the Russian agency and for saving the lives of Ukrainian citizens. Thank you sincerely for your vigilance, professionalism, and loyalty to the oath," noted the Commander-in-Chief.
