In a recent address, President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine faces the risk of losing a vital partner and its dignity. He assured that he is committed to fostering constructive dialogue with key international allies.
«We are currently going through one of the most challenging periods in our nation's history. The pressure on Ukraine is immense. We face a difficult choice: either lose our dignity or a key partner. Alternatively, we must choose between complex decisions or face a harsh winter with further challenges», - stated Zelensky.
He reassured that instead of making emotional statements, there will be constructive engagement with the United States and other allies.
«I am prepared to present arguments, persuade, and offer alternatives, but we will not give the enemy a chance to claim that Ukraine does not want peace or is not ready for diplomacy. That will not happen», - emphasized the President.
A crucial point he made was the need for unity among the Ukrainian people during these trying times.
«I reach out to all Ukrainians. We need to unite. Stop the internal conflicts. The state must function. The parliament and government of a warring country must work together. We must all remember who our true enemy is», - Zelensky said.
Reflecting on the early days of the full-scale invasion, he noted that many were calling for surrender, but that did not happen then, and it will not happen now.
«I am certain that in this genuinely challenging moment in our history, I am not alone. Ukrainians believe in their state. In all future discussions with our partners, it will be easier for me to advocate for a just peace knowing that I stand with the people of Ukraine», - he concluded.
He also informed that the upcoming week would be filled with significant events. «We will work on the diplomatic front for our peace. We must work together within the country for our dignity and freedom. I believe I am not alone. With me are our people, society, warriors, partners, allies», - he stated.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Zelensky received a project plan from the American side that could activate diplomatic efforts.
Earlier, it was reported that the Trump administration held secret consultations with the Russians to develop a new plan for ending the war in Ukraine. According to Axios, this plan consists of 28 points and is divided into four main categories: peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe, and future relations between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine.
Specifically, the media reports that Kyiv is expected to relinquish control of certain areas in Donbas, reduce its army, and limit its weaponry. The transfer of the remaining territories in Donbas will occur in exchange for security guarantees from the U.S. for Kyiv and Europe.
Additionally, Ukraine is required to enshrine in its Constitution a provision that it will never join NATO, while NATO will include a clause in its charter prohibiting Ukraine's future membership. NATO will also not deploy troops in Ukraine. Furthermore, the plan calls for elections in Ukraine to take place within 100 days of signing the agreement.
On November 21, Zelensky discussed this plan during a joint conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
