Recently, a mural dedicated to the memory of Taras Davydyuk was unveiled in Kyiv, on one of the promenades.
This artistic project honors the memory of the fallen journalist, soldier, and activist, who served as the editor-in-chief of the website «Horyn.info».
Taras lost his life while carrying out a military mission on November 3, protecting his comrades at the outskirts of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
He was a political analyst by education and was actively involved in public affairs.
Taras participated in the Russo-Ukrainian war from 2014 to 2019, and again from February 2022.
On September 29, he married Kyiv scout Tetiana Lushchenko… and returned to the front lines. Taras wrote on his social media: «Currently, there are no more important matters than war».
Initially, the mural was intended to be created in Rivne, but they could not secure a location for the project there.
The local council imposed a temporary moratorium on the creation of new monumental art.
However, Taras's family was determined to see this project realized: «Despite all the difficulties, Taras Davydyuk's mother insisted on the project's completion», - shared curator Yevheniya Fullen, as quoted by Suspilne.
The journalist's family financed the mural's creation themselves.
Artists Vladyslav Pavlenko and Tina Didenko worked on the depiction for four days, from November 8 to 11.
«Kyiv's promenade became the ideal place, as it is a legal area for murals and did not require lengthy permits. «We only had a few days to work», - explained the artist.
Taras Davydyuk would have turned 39 years old. He was a prominent public figure since the early 2000s: an activist, scout, political analyst, journalist, and youth educator.
